Granite & Stone Kitchen Worktops

One granite company consistently shone above the rest and so Tollgate Kitchens designer, Mike Simpson, set up Merlin Granite to harness these skills and offer a professionalism in granite worktops to compliment the Tollgate Kitchen's installation process.

The Process

1. The customer selects a particular granite and an estimate of the cost is obtained. This includes joins, sink cut outs, hob cut outs, polished edges, drainer grooves and tap holes.
2. The base units, new or existing, are installed and levelled. Supporting wall batons and end panels are secured by the kitchen fitters.
3. A specialist from the factory comes out and makes a template from 4mm medium density fibre boards. This is taken back to the factory and used to transform a big slab of granite into a bespoke surface for the customer. This usually takes about one week. The kitchen installers can leave the customer with temporary worktops, working sink and hob if required.
4. If the chosen stone is in a finish that varies a great deal a photograph of the slabe will be sent to the customer for approval. At this stage the exact cost is confirmed.
5. Approximately one week after templating the kitchen the kitchen installers come back and remove the temporary worktops, sink and hob and the new surface is installed with great skill and care.
6. The kitchen installers re-connect the sink and job and the customer can admire a job well done.

All CaesarStone's quartz surface products are manufactured from up to 93% quartz (one of nature's hardest minerals) and high quality polymer resins and pigments that are compacted under intense vibration, vacuum and pressure into dense, non-porous slabs. CaesarStone's quartz slabs are then post cured, gauged to precise thickness and polished to an enduring shine. This results in surfaces that retain the cool, tactile, qualities of natural stone whilst offering design freedom with almost unlimited application possibilities.

Silestone bridges the gap between nature and technology. The process begins with combining 93% quarts with resins and pigments. Then through a patented process of vibro-comperssion the resins bind the quarts in polymeric chains. The result is a highly durable stone product. Silestone is produced in 30mm, 20mm and 12mm slab thickness. Each slab measures 3 metres long by 1.38 metres deep. Silestone can be used in a variety of applications, including kitchen worktops, bathroom vanities, shower surrounds and floor and wall tiling.
